Inspired by a talk on how to use psychology to get people to do what you want online.
There are very many people at SxSWi with big brains. Most of the time that’s cool. Some of the time the panels lack focus because of it. #bigbrotherinyourbrain is the latter. hey ho.
@awallenstein: “you would think that of all people neuromarketing gurus have a clue about how to do engaging panels. Peace out.”
@paryshnikov: “An ad guy is explaining Turing’s test and the Page Rank algorithm to a room full of geeks. Not sure about this one.”
This talk was awesome. We gave him a tshirt about his own talk afterwards.
About his talk Nooks and Grannies
Panel envy is a concept brought to our attention by our twitter friend Katy Lindeman. Because everyone is tweeting the juicy bits from the talks they’re listening to, it’s easy to watch the tweets and feel a pang of panel envy. We contend that there is a strong positive correlation between twitter following and panel envy. It may not be a Venn, but it’s totally our thing.
So it seems we were on to something when we said that Venns were the thing. This is the design on the side of the famed SXSW goodie bag you get with registration. It’s designed by artist Dan Goldman. It’s an elaborate Venn diagram! The concept behind which he describes as the “meeting of minds”. Vennarama.
