Five’s ambition is set to become the UK’s most sociable, interactive TV channel. As part of that they commissioned a new kind of musical talent show bringing together some of Glee’s glamour and inclusiveness and dropping any hint of the negative sarcastic tone of some of the other shows. As the show includes only bigger groups of over 5 people or many, many more, all of whom have to sing and dance, we captured the idea behind the show in the proposition: talent is now a team sport. We brought it to life by choreographing 60 street-cast artists to sing different parts in a medley of the most popular songs we could think of, led by Emma Bunton, the show’s presenter. We hooked up with Kim Gehrig of Academy as our director and Soundtree as our music gurus. The advertising has been both successful and popular – the look and feel of the advertising has crossed over into the show itself and social media comment on the advertising has been broad and positive. Most importantly, already by the first show it generated audience figures 40% higher than Five’s norm.
